I’ve lived and worked in Manchester now for ten years and I wanted to share my fine dining experiences by telling you about my three favourite restaurants in Manchester.
Chaophraya
Chaophraya is my favourite restaurant in Manchester. I have been on numerous occasions and it always reminds me of the time when I lived in Bangkok. The restaurant is located very centrally on the corners of Chapel Walks and Pall Mall and each visit to the restaurant is greeted with the traditional Thai smile, excellent food and attentive service. The relaxed setting along with the traditional Thai décor makes it feel as thought you are actually in Thailand. Overall Chaopahraya offer the best Thai food I've had outside Thailand and never fails to delight!
Michael Caines Restaurant
I have visited the Michael Caines Restaurant at Abode which is located in the Piccadilly area of Manchester on many occasions. Since my first visit in 2008 the service has always been fantastic and the food cooked to an impeccable standard. One reason I enjoy my visits to the restaurant is the fact that the waitresses and waiters always have a good knowledge of the food being served and seem to take a real pride in the overall appearance and atmosphere generated by the restaurant. A personal recommendation would be to try the 7 courses for £75 tasting menu. Although it seems expensive the quality and variety of the food served is definitely Michelin Star standard. However, if this seems out of your budget I would highly recommend the early dining menu which is excellent value for money. Overall Michael Caines is slightly on the expensive side at main serving times but this should not put you off going at a different time of day.
Choice Bar and Restaurant
After recently visiting the Choice Bar and Restaurant in the city centre, I was extremely impressed with the canal side setting and the exposed brickwork interior oozed sophistication. The food was wonderful and their use of local produce makes this an excellent choice for British cuisine. There were a number of daily specials and the waiting staff were really attentive. Choice is not the cheapest restaurant, but I feel it is fairly priced for the quality of the food served.
